Welcome to KG Motel
Where Keydets and Generals Come Home.
KG Motel pays homage to everything you love about a classic American roadside stay: mid-century style, mountain views, a little nostalgia, and a whole lot of personality.

Whether you’re here for game day or a campus visit, competing at the Virginia Horse Center, exploring the Shenandoah Valley, or just cruising through the galaxy , we’re glad you found us.
Get to Know Us
Built in 1962 as the Keydet-General Motel, the KG Motel takes its name from Lexington’s two legendary schools and their mascots. For more than six decades this location has been a home base for alumni, families, road trippers, horse people, and anyone looking for a good place to stay awhile.
Today, we are introducing the reimagined KG, with thoughtfully restored rooms, modern comforts you need, and plenty of character for those seeking an alternative to boring. Think midcentury style, atomically cool details, and a deep appreciation for all things local, from our mattresses and furniture to the snacks in the KG Pantry.
